WELCOME to About Us

I'Raison d’Etre

We believe that each one of us makes an important contribution to this world we share.  The combination of our individual and diverse talents create global influences and political climates that affect the lives of other people.  In Canada, we live in a democracy, where legal systems are in place to ensure that each person has a voice.  We are not powerless and this is an unhealthy perception that we must struggle against.  When we witness injustice, there are legal channels to speak against it.

Structure

MCPJ is composed of a group of passionate volunteers who work for social justice.  We organize public education meetings to improve our understanding of world issues. Respect for each other’s cultural values is critical to our success. Meetings At organizing meetings, volunteers propose socially-just projects that they wish to lead.  The team works together to realize this goal and develop a forum for the public.

Meetings

Our meetings take place at a regular basis, with space kindly provided by the following organization:

The Palestine House Educational and Cultural Centre

3195 Erindale Station Road, Mississauga ON

It can't go without saying how indebted MCPJ is to Palestine House Cultural and Educational Centre here in Mississauga. In the very beginning, when the organizers searched for an venue to house the new fledgling social justice coalition in Mississauga, they were at a loss.    The Mississauga Library, where they held their first meeting in March 2003, was too expensive to rent on a regular basis for weekly meetings.  They decided to take stabs in the dark and approach various cultural centres.  One of the organizers approached the  Palestine House Cultural and Educational Centre, where she had attended summer fundraising barbeques for occupied Palestine. It was a daunting task for an organization that didn't have any money, and didn't have an Arabic-speaking member.  But to their surprise, Palestine House took in this young group and has supported their regular meetings at no expense since 2003.  MCPJ is completely accepted as both organizations support the human rights and dignity of all peoples.  MCPJ is a Coalition with an open membership to anyone who wishes to cooperate and respect others in the goal for justice.  Both organizations support each others demands, and help each other with their objectives.  On behalf of MCPJ, we want to say "Sukran" or "Toda"(Arabic/Hebrew) - no matter what language we use, the message is the same. MCPJ looks forward to continuing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters for peace and justice.
