Homelessness

There are over 40,000 homeless people just in Toronto

HOMELESSNESS - an old, yet growing issue in Canada's largest cities. While we put billions into war coffers, millions of Canadians live below the poverty line. Many of these people are also homeless, or live in temporary housing, such as shelters. Many of them are the working poor, families and single-parents. 1 in 5 children in Canada lives under the poverty line.

MCPJ supports initiatives that work toward alleviating poverty, homelessness, and hunger at the local, national, and international levels. We urge the municipal, provincial and federal goverments to respond to the plight of its citizens by strengthening - not abolishing - social programs that bring people out of the cycle of poverty.
