Shame on the World: Pinochet has died a Free Man and with Honours from the Chilean State
The Women’s Coordinating Committee Chile-Canada residing in Toronto declares:
Unto the sudden death of on of the most sinister dictators Chile has ever known, August Pinochet Ugarte, a murderer, torturer, thief, and the cause of so much pain unto the Chilean and Mapuche Peoples, has died without having received the justice so many expected.
He died peacefully, with all the commodities that his class possesses, of which he represents. Disappearing and killing the best children of this land called “Chile”.
He died peacefully and was treated with dignity, with the support of his elite fascist followers that cry his parting together with his family and friends, while singing the National Anthem.
He died, not only with the moral support of his friends, but also with the support of the cowards in the coalition government of “La Concertación,” that once again repressed the Chilean peoples that went out onto the streets spontaneously to celebrate the mass murderer’s death. The Chilean state authorized MILITARY HONURS for the dictator through the Chilean Ministry of Defense, in which the Armed Forces would take charge of the situation. This entity pertains and is under direct mandate of the Chilean government, meaning that Pinochet will still inherently be receiving honours from the Chilean government, as the military is not a separate entity from the state.
Before all this hypocrisy represented through the current government, that not only oppresses Chileans in their legitimate demands, but also covers and sells ancient lands belonging to the Mapuche People, incarcerating their representatives, militarizing their ancient territories, while everyone believes in their lies, we state that:
M. Bachelet, we do not believe in the hypocritical government that you represent. We profoundly despise the political – judicial system, and the economic policies that reign in today’s Chile.
In permitting that the worst mass murderer our country has ever known die without being judicially processed, for crimes Against Humanity committed under his mandate, we place the responsibility of this historical crime unto the politicians of coalition government of “La Concertación.” This coalition has ruled the country for the past 16 years, and has not had the political will to make any real change with dignity, much less with Justice.
We women that have suffered the most for the absence of our children, our husbands, our family, and for their harassment, disappearing and killing, will never forgive nor forget….
We will never accept that the body of Pinochet receives any kind of ceremony from behalf of the state. Pinochet was never chosen by anyone, he was nothing more than a servile dictator for North American imperialism, and the national oligarchy, which brought us the horrible political constitution.
Lastly for those who think that in the mass murderer’s death, everything has solved itself, and that everything has finished, are mistaken. Justice will always be a pending problem for those who have not paid their crimes. There are still those who are willing to bet, to give their young hearts in the hope to give rise to a better future.
In memory of all those who have fallen in this long struggle For those who are now falling for a better future For the Freedom of all Chilean, Mapuche, and International Political Prisoners For the Life and Freedom of Mapuche Political Prisoner, Waikilaf Cadin Calfunao For the Life, Dignity and Autonomy of the Mapuche People
